November 12, 2005--Ken Baker will be doing an SCBWI writing workshop in Utah Valley. The workshop title is "Beginnings, Middles, Endings: Bringing the Story Full Circle."

November 15, 2005--Mark and Cara Buehner will be signing at the Meadowmoor Elementary Book Fair, 6:00 pm.

November 16, 2005--Mark and Cara Buehner will be signing at the Eastwood Elementary Book Fair, 6:00 pm.

November 17, 2005--Mark and Cara Buehner will be signing at the Indian Hills Elementary Book Fair, 5:00 pm.

November 18, 2005--Shannon Hale will be signing at the Jordan Landing Barnes and Noble, 6-8 pm.

November 19, 2005--Carol Williams will be speaking at AML for two hours with Cheri Earl. They'll talk first on strong writing, and follow with a first page critique of the previous session's attendees. The conference will be held at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Anyone interested may preregister online at the Association for Mormon Letters website, www.aml-online.org.

In this five-week course, students will learn about strong writing for the children's book market. As well, students will discuss voice, plot, and dialog and how these work in good stories for children of all ages. The class time will be spent reviewing the genres in the field, working toward preparing students own writing for possible publication, and critiquing students manuscripts.
