APPEARANCES AND EVENTS

October 1 and 15, 2004--Shannon Hale will be doing a writer-in- residence program with William Penn Elementary.

October 1-30, 2004--Hala Wittwer and Guy Francis will have art in a show at the Tera Nova Gallery in Provo. The show is titled "Imagination and Illustration". Hala and Guy will each have three original illustrations in the show. The illustrations will be for sale. The opening reception will be on Friday, October 1, from 6-8 pm.

October 2, 2004--Mark Buehner will be signing his new book, NICCOLINI'S SONG, at Frost Books from 12:30-2:00 pm.

October 4, 2004--David Small and Sarah Stewart will be at the King's English bookstore at 4:00 pm.

October 5, 2004--David Small and Sarah Stewart will be at BYU. At 12:30 pm they will speak in the HBLL Auditorium, level 1. 
Following will be a signing in the BYU bookstore. David Small's books will be on sale at a discount.

October 5-7, 2004--Ron Woods will be speaking and signing at the Orchard Elementary book fair in Orem.

October 7, 2004--Chris Crowe will be speaking at the Read Leaf Bookstore in Springville at 7:00 pm.

October 9, 2004--Robert Neubecker will be signing and reading his book WOW! CITY! at the King's English bookstore story hour at 11 am.

October 9, 2004--Special Critique Session with Authors Carol Lynch Williams and Rick Walton Sponsored by Utah Children's Writers and Illustrators. $25.

Westminster College Gore Auditorium 9am to 5pm with Anne Perry, keynote speaker.
Pre-registration cost is $40 ($30 for students with ID and AML members) by October 1, 2004.
At the door registration is $15 more, registration will open at 8:30am.
Lunch is $13, choose between chicken piccata and vegetable lasagna. Lucky 13 workshops are $5.

Please note: Each of you who wish to participate in Kathleen's Breakout Session are invited to provide 13 lines of text on which feedback will be given. Please let us know at registration if you plan to bring text so we can properly prepare for the session.

There are three kinds of text that will be workshopped: A hook—the first thirteen lines of a story (the first page in manuscript format). Description--thirteen lines of setting or characterization. Plot--thirteen lines of a plot outline or synopsis. Anyone is welcome to attend a Lucky 13 workshop, whether you have thirteen lines of text or not. Observers are also welcome to provide feedback on the text being workshopped.
