REVIEWS
for Ron Woods' THE HERO
"...a wild ride, which leads Jamie to discover what it takes to be a hero and a man." LuAnn Staheli, Spanish Fork Press, Aug. 1, 2002
"...epic....we're left to wonder who is the real hero." Caleb Warnock, The Daily Herald, Aug. 12, 2002
"This is a great book." Chapter a Day Teen Online Book Club, Aug. 2, 2002
"...not just an adventure story....a thoughtful, and often moving
chronicle of a young boy's movement toward maturity....reminiscent of that other great 'raft on a river' novel, Huckleberry Finn....Ron Woods is a very able writer....his language is fresh and lively....The Hero is an interesting blend of hair raising suspense and a sort of quiet, philosophical introspection....a powerful, finely crafted story." Sharlee Glen, AML List, Aug. 2002
"...striking insights about the human condition....although it is meant for young people, the book's moral complexity makes it interesting for adults as well....asks serious questions about the way society defines heroic acts." Eli Briggs on "Friday Focus," KBSU NPR Radio, Boise, Idaho, Sep. 27, 2002
